Been working on 2 commissions... and finally fished my mum's portrait.. Her wedding photo over 50 years ago! I will be giving it to her tomorrow.
The other 2 are Birthday and Father's Day gift..
The drawing with 2 people.. was very demanding.. The photo of the woman was over 30 years old.. very faded.. very blurry.. had to take a lot of artistic license.. and the young man came from a very, very small photo.. The lady who bought it seemed very pleased.. She was very emotional.. I must have captured them.. It can be very emotional. The woman was the young mans mother.. She passed away over 15 years ago, and the only photo he had of her.. So I was really paranoid NOT to lose it.. or mess it up.. Thank the lord for computers and scanners..
Things are still a bit weird at the moment.. Still, no job for hubby.. He did get a contract job for one day tomorrow.. so hopefully, he will feel a bit more confident! I have another commission this week.. May actually be a nude!! Haven't done one of those in over 30 years... My hubby was like?? do ya do nudes??? I said I will DRAW anything and anybody.. Now if I could only get Sean Bean nude and in front of me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Life Gives You Lemons! a journal entry!

Well, time for my confession.. No! just kidding.. but this ranting is going to feel like it!!
It is a lovely Sunday afternoon.. but, inside I feel a wreck.. School is out. I teach as a Special Ed, Educational Assistant for grades 2 to 5 (8 to 11 year olds). (I wear many hats) Was definitly ready for the summer holiday. But, as luck would have it.. my husband has been laid off! It wouldn't be so bad.. but it seems that work keeps him and myself sane! He is irritable.. I am irritable.. the kids are irritable.. as you can guess.. it is a constant stress bubble ready to burst!!
I am sure we will survive..we have survived worse..The expression 'If life throws you lemons make lemonade!" But, If I hadn't written this down and let off some steam.. It could get ugly!! Now, I am just venting.. so do not take a lot of this too seriously!!!
Thank the lord for my drawings.. They are my saving grace! I have picked up a few commissions this week.. so, on the financial front.. that is another blessing.!!
We are being very thrifty.. amazing how thrifty you can be under dire circumstances.
I am putting my resume out again. I took the EA job because of the hours, benefits and being with my 2 boys.. (same school), but the money is not that great! So I am hitting the pavement again. Posting resumes with Illustration and Publishing companies again. Has been over 20 years since I have done this and boy!! how things have changed.
Seems like all around us.. folks are struggling and the job market is very dismal!
Especially, for the arts.The ARTS, or the enjoyment of the ARTS, are the first to go, in this type of economy.. Luxuries are just that... Luxuries.
I have closed my Ebay store for the time being.. was costing me more than getting back. Hopefully, I will open back up in the Fall..
Keep good thoughts coming my way.. and I am blessed for what I have!!

Off to make lunch.. laundry.. draw...(hopefully) as life goes on!!!

And I did go a little bit overboard with the Lemons and Lemonade.. but gotta laugh!!!

He passed away over 12 years ago.. Had Parkinson's for 12 years. and really suffered..

Finally Spring Break has arrived.. I have been neglecting my drawing.. So made up for it last night... click to see new sketches.. John for sale and Josh is commission...
With weather warming.. most of this weekend has been in the garden.. and Oh MY!! what a job ahead of me.. Before, children, I had a LOT more time and really enjoyed my flowers and vegetable garden.. and in the past 10 years I have only done the basics.. So, my body is going to be in traction.. after I finish working in it this week!! The weeds..... nightmarish...!! Enjoy the sketches.. and feel for me as every muscle in my body is gonna be soooooo sore.. (good for me though)..
